Craniosacral therapy was developed by John Upledger, D.O. in the 1970s, and is loosely based on osteopathy in the cranial field (OCF), which was developed in the 1930s by William Garner Sutherland.

  • Of course their are some conditions you should try cranial sacral therapy, and they are.

Conditions that include any increase in intracranial pressure could or would cause instability. Also any prexisting severe bleeding, acute aneurysm, also cerebral hemorrhage. With any of these conditions it would not be recommended to have any type of cranial sacral therapy. This could make things worse for you with this type of therapy.

How Does CranioSacral Therapy actually work in non medicial terms.

Being that the brain and spinal cord have the most influence over you body being that they are the main central nervous system.  The craniosacral system influence you CNS (central nervous system) largely.  These fluids and membranes surround, protect and nourish them.  Stress and strains can distort or put your craniosacral system out of alignment, this can lead to restrictions to form.  This can affect your bodies ability to allow a healthy performance to the CNS or other body systems.

So with cranial sacral therapy this can be helped by putting your CNS back to normal with less restrictions and this is done by a practitioner of CST, it starts with the evaluation of the body to test for movement and rhythm of the fluid pulse around your brain and spinal cord.  Then techniques of soft touch are used to release restrictions in tissues in your crano system this also allows your body to sort of self correct itself.

Cranial sacral therapy seeks to restore the natural position of the bones and can decrease stress from chronic injuries as well as provide relief from migraine headaches, neck and back pain,

What does a Cranial Sacral Therapy Session Cost?

Each session usually hours about $100 a hour session, then usually for kids its $40-50 for a 30 minute session.

What advice is there for a first time therapy session?
Don't worry you keep your clothes on so no going commando.  try not to eat a large meal before you go. As also try to show up a couple minutes early for paper work and the explanation of what is going to happen in the session.
